Day 4: Captain Andy's Trip

Capitan Andy's trip was a small boat to na pali coast. We started the morning a little early. I went in the Scott's car and we went in the opposite direction of the other days. I knew little of what was in store but I was excited.

When we arrived at the launch point Caitlin made a spectacle by going over to another group and saying hi really loudly. Our crew wasn't there yet. I listened to the other group and they said that the area was a place a lot of films were filmed.

After that Caitlin got a shoulder ride from Tyler and she made a spectacle by screaming loudly. It wasn't long before the other crew left and ours came.

There were two boats/rafts and they could hold 14 us 8 then one couple. 2 sister one with her finance. There was also the captain Matt and his crew Ryan.

The raft was fast and really wild but it was also really fun way to travel down the coast first we went through the public areas, then to the private USA military area, then the missile launch area, then to more public beaches and a tour of the coast as well as a trip into some caves. It was so cool and pretty. We saw where the kings of the Hawaiian people were buried. We saw where a bunch of movies were filmed including all the Jurassic movies, the newest king Kong remake, raiders of the lost ark, as well as the fourth pirates of the Caribbean.

Also on the boat we saw spinner dolphins following them for a while. Then uncle Jim spied three humpback whales, a mom and calf and an escort. So cool!

Then after the tour we stopped at a beach to eat sandwiches. After the lunch we went snorkeling. It was cool to see the fish. We also saw a turtle on the reef.

After the snorkeling we had a tour of the ruins. Most were ruined by the feral goats. They are now trying to resort them. At the beach we saw about ten more turtles and a monk seal. Then we returned home

Day 3: Steak Dinner

The third night I spent with my sister as she did her exam. While everyone else went to the Scott's to help start dinner and have fun. Maybe I will have them supplement the info later.

After nearly 2 hours the exam was over and my dad came back to get us. Good thing was that we got there and dinner was ready bad thing was that it felt like we were only there for dinner and then we left.

The food was delicious and we chatted for a while and discussed the hike and we discussed day 4 adventures.

Day 3: north shore hike

On the third day, we decided to go on a hike on the other side of the island the only problem was the fact that Caitlin had an exam that had to be done by 9pm. So that meant we needed to be back by 6pm.

Everything was mostly smooth Melissa was in the Scott's car and our car was filled with the sound of my sister reading here school book. Torture after an hour. But the trip was longer than an hour. Also about 5 miles away from it the road was closed because of a down power line. We went back to hanalei and everyone had a little snack. Most got smoothies I had a delicious acai bowl. So good. We walked around, ate and talked. So it was fun and would have been better without our deadline.

Once we got to the hike we decided to hike for 90 minutes in and turn around although if need be some could stay for longer. I am normal hiker I think I could have made it to the beach in the normal 2 hour time frame but I didn't have that amount of time. I was left behind to take my time which was fine with me the views were amazing and i kept asking if they has seen a tall red head ahead of me and then ask how far away he was. So funny.

I found out later that my sister and brother ran to the beach and made it there and back with only about a ten minute error although that ten minutes might have been when they looked at the beach. Bre, aunt Karen and mom stayed at the beach longer and got good pictures. Dad and uncle Jim met me about 90 minutes in. Apparently the last mile or so to the beach was all downhill and they didn't want to walk up on the way back. The mile mark also was the high part of the two mile part of the hike so they were able to go downhill when they turned around. I wish I had met mom, bre and Aunt Karen, but my dad and uncle Jim didn't really give me the info on how we could split the cars up. Oh well. It was still a good hike.

On the way back the car ride was mostly the same but for some reason after Caitlin read gout my dad repeated her then my brother then me and we did that a few times. So now it is a thing we do that the other people in our trip just don't get.

Day 2: Sunset adventure!

When we arrived back to the room and started to watch Monday night football. We also start to drink. Once the Scott's arrived we went down to the beach because we wanted to see the sunset. Apparently when the sunsets on the water green light flashes. Also it was the first time really going to the beach. Caitlin remind behind to study for a test.

So we went off. The beach was a little crowded so we walked over some rocks to get to a more secluded area. Then, mom, aunt karen, bre and I stood in about waist high waves talking. Uncle Jim and Dad chilled with each other. Tyler hung out for a while but he is too cool for school so he ended up going back to the room.

Once the sunset came closer we moved over to this lawn that other people were sitting and getting ready to take pictures. We got yelled at for sitting on the grass between two bushes instead of on the other side of the bushes. So bre and I sat on the wall and Aunt Karen apparently went to photo bomb people.

There turned out to be to many clouds so no green lights but got some pictures anyway.

After the sunset we went to our spa for the first time and the water was really warm. Bre, Melissa and Karen got out quickly to start dinner and because it was too hot. But I stayed with uncle Jim and Dad. Tyler joined us, with a new drink for me. Whoha! When we were done with the spa we stayed in the area to grill chicken. And I schooled dad and Tyler about Venus.

After the chicken was grilled, Jim's doing, we headed up to the room for dinner. The chicken was perfect. It had BBQ sauce on it and I am not usually a BBQ type of person but it was so yummy I are mine and the part Bre didn't want. The was salad, baked beans and gluten free rice pilaf too. After the boys cleared the table and retired to the living room.

While the girls talked about family, school, Kenny G (Tyler's hair twin) and more. The night ended up winding down and the Scott's went home. Aunt Karen left her phone by mistake and Tyler took the opportunity to pull a classical practical joke. Bazinga!

Day 2: Bic lickers

The first full day of Emery and Scott Hawaii Trip started out well. I woke up and spent sometime watching a surfer on our balcony. The stillness of the morning was perfect and relaxing.

My aunt and cousin had a good morning as well they said that they used their spa at their resort.

After my mom was up the Emery's started the day with English muffin egg sandwiches. Once everyone was fed and ready we head over to meet the Scott's. We were going to Kapaa where there is a bike shop that rents 2 bikes for ten dollars for an hour. There is a bike path on the coast with beautiful views.

The bikes were really fun. We went a few miles up and there were interesting things to see. Ocean and beach as well as historic things like the old power plants, rice farms and a train rail that used to bring all the yummy fruit grown in Hawaii to the coast right out into the water so the train cars could be loaded quickly. We took a few pictures here.

After riding for a while we turned around and went back. We stopped on the way for a late lunch. I had delicious quesdillas at Paco's tacos while Karen, Bre, Tyler and Melissa had Greek, Caitlin and Bernie had smoothies.

Then after that we went back even more and found some swings that swung out towards the ocean. We all stopped and a few of us got some pictures.

Upon returning our bikes, uncle Jim, Bernie and Tyler took one car to go to a snorkel place and the girls another for more groceries. The boys ended up knocked over two bikes and a large sign backing out of the parking lot. How embarrassing!

I will not tell you about grocery shopping except to say that after the boys joined us Tyler put a pumpkin in the cart and it took aunt Karen and mom until checkout to notice. Bazinga.

Day 1: Merrimen

We have all arrived and made our way to car rentals. The Emery's got a free upgrade and that was good because we had too much stuff to take a smaller car which my mom always does. While there we noticed how many chickens and roosters just hang about. It was an interesting sight.

After the car rental we went to Walmart to pick up some groceries. It was quite and experience. Apparently it took 5 hours for mom and dad to make a list, of course what else would you do on an airplane. So, Tyler and I were only able to talk them into a fee changes. After the groceries we went to our timeshare. Finally!

Our timeshare is so nice 2 beds 2 baths and large living room and kitchen. We got in and knowing from our phone updates that the patriots had come back we watched the last 5 minutes and ot. Well, everyone but mom she put away groceries, had a straw-ber-rita and kept raving about how cool our balcony was. She also had the Scott coming over so that we could go to dinner.

Once the game was over, a win for the patriots, we got ready for dinner. We also practiced our dance turns on the kitchen tile, to loud music. It was part celebrate of the win, part excitement of our first night in Hawaii and part silliness. Actually mostly silliness.

When the Scotts arrived we were off! To merriman's burgers. It was a good place to go because they had gluten free options. The best gluten free pizzs i had ever had! We were all merry too so the name of the restaurant was appropriate.

It was an early night through. Everyone was tired from traveling so far so when we were done eating we called it a night.

Day 1: Caitlin and Bernadette's adventure in Hawaii.

Day 1 of the trip. I set off at exactly 5:50am for the airport. I had one stop getting to Dave's house because he was going to drop my sister and I off at the airport so that we wouldn't have to pay big bucks to park for a week. Upon arriving there I found that Caitlin and I were both wearing Cardinal shirt and I my cardinals hat. We laughed because she said she should have known that I would wear that. The shirts turned out to give us a lot of attention in Hawaii especially since by the time we arrived they had won 40-11 and everyone was letting us know!

The plane ride was quite long I passed the time by watching glee, sleeping and read "The Maze Runner." Caitlin slept at the beginning and then did homework. She is in her first semester of physical therapy school. So she needed to study because she has to take a test online during our vacation.

We flew on Hawaiian. The gave us samples of kona coffee and free rum passion fruit drinks before landing in Honolulu.

In Honolulu we were supposed to have a layover of a few hours but our flight had arrived early and they were able to get us on the island hopper plane not one but two flights ahead of schedule. However they couldn't move our bags. We took the chance anyway and took the flight over.

In Kauai in  a blink of our eye we went to baggage claim services and asked them to put our bags in their room for our parents to pick up. We gave our baggage claim numbers and info. The plan was to get a ride to the timeshare. However, we found out quickly that we couldn't without our Dad's permission but since he was in transit that wasn't happening. The lady at information told us that the Marriott near the airport would pick up people who had a few hours to spare before their flight then she said there was a beach and a bar to get a drink. We were in! Now I am making this sound simple but it tool about an hour but we still had almost three before everyone else arrived. If we had more knowledge at the beginning we could have been at the beach early. Still it ended up being a nice time and I think a good choice to take that earlier flight. Although it meant we missed all of the cardinals game and not just some.

So after we called the shuttle we arrived at the Marriott and went down to the beach. When we arrived Caitlin was taking pictures of the view to send to our G'ma who could have been very worried about our adventurous spirit since we had been communicating with her. A really cute guy asked if we wanted a picture taken and we said yes. So he took two one of the main view and another facing away from the sun.

Then, we decided to get a drink at Duke's. We were in Hawaii on vacation after a long flight. So we wanted a drink. We both got lava flows which are like strawberry pina coladas. She started to study again. So I looked about and read more.

About an hour later my sister asked when do you think they will get in exactly. I looked up and saw a plane coming in and said I think that's them. We laughed. But 5 minutes later my brother sent message saying that they had arrived. So we took the shuttle back to the airport.

So ends the adventure for only the two of us, but it brings the adventure of #emeryscotthawaiitrip
